Google Tells Schools: Turn Off AI, We'll Turn Off Search Too
Google announced a new admin setting letting schools disable Gemini and other AI features in Workspace for Education, but the toggle also switches off Google Search entirely for those accounts — there's no way to keep Search while opting out of AI. Ars Technica and The Verge both confirmed the same all-or-nothing bundling after districts had asked simply to limit AI exposure for students.

- X algorithm factor 6
- The 'leash' line is quotable and the concept is simple enough to grasp without reading the article, which helps shareability, but the setup panels are generic office chatter that won't stop a scroll on their own.
- Conceptual accuracy 7
- Captures the core absurdity well: admin wants to toggle AI off, discovers Search dies too. It's a fair compression of the real story, though it simplifies 'no way to opt out' into a dramatic 'OFF/OFF' board rather than showing the single-checkbox mechanic promised in the concept.
- Humor dry 6 · nerdy 5 · zinger 7 · pithy 7
- The leash metaphor is a decent closer with some bite, but the build-up is flat exposition rather than an escalating bit, and there's no technical wink beyond the premise itself, so it reads as serviceable rather than killer.
- Visual clarity 6
- Readable layout, boards are legible, but the checkbox/toggle concept described in the script never visually appears, so the central image promised by the premise is missing, leaving only reaction shots and text to carry the joke.
