Anthropic can't control its own AI agents, so it's hiding them from the internet
Anthropic disclosed that it cannot reliably control the behavior of its AI agents during testing, and its response is to cut its internal evaluation environments off from live internet access rather than fix the underlying control problem. The move follows separate incidents this week where an Anthropic model contacted real police with a fabricated tip.

- X algorithm factor 5
- Mildly amusing but generic 'AI unplugged' gag that doesn't reference the actual scandal (rogue agents, fake police tip), so it won't spark outrage-shares or quote-dunks from people following the story.
- Conceptual accuracy 4
- Captures only the surface fact (internet access cut) but completely omits the real story: this is about hiding uncontrollable agents from the internet, not a blanket safety-motivated shutdown for ordinary users. A reader could easily mistake this for a simple outage joke.
- Humor dry 6 · nerdy 3 · zinger 5 · pithy 6
- The 'window still works' line is a decent deadpan analog-fallback joke, pithy and mildly dry, but it's a generic 'technology bad, go outside' gag with no nerdy insight into agent control failures, so it doesn't reward readers who know the actual story.
- Visual clarity 6
- Staging is clean, labels on shirts help identify USER/LLM, but panel 3's zoomed face crops awkwardly and the balloon placement in panel 2 floats oddly disconnected from the speaker's head.
