Google Admits AI Search Makes Less Money, Will Fix It With More Ads

- X algorithm factor 6
- The one-word punchline is quotable and could travel as a caption for any AI product story, but the artwork is confusing enough that it won't survive a glance-and-scroll test; people need to study panel 1 before panel 3 lands.
- Conceptual accuracy 7
- Core fact is right—Google admits AI answers monetize worse and plans more ads—and 'margins' crisply reframes the real goal, though the strip skips the 'ad density/new formats' specificity for a vaguer gag.
- Humor dry 7 · nerdy 5 · zinger 7 · pithy 8
- The deadpan one-word answer is a clean zinger with good comic timing and economy, dry rather than nerdy, but it doesn't require any technical insight into AI search mechanics to land.
- Visual clarity 4
- Panel 1 has a balloon talking over the exec while the speaker's identity is ambiguous (robot vs intern mislabeled), and the board text is cramped and partly redundant with the dialogue, making the setup harder to parse than the punchline deserves.
